the path for the activision folder is the same for vista and windows 7, so use the vista path
TO ALL that have directx related problems such as:
Xinput1_3.dll missing
d3dx9_37.dll missing
or for this matter any other .dll file missing, DO NOT just randomly search for the file on google and download it, get the directx updater from microsoft as that is the REAL solution, this will also fix alot of other peoples problems that are being reported such as getting black screens and no sound, YOU NEED at least directx 9 to play this game so make sure you have it
FOR EVERYONE else who is getting black screens MAKE SURE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD CAN HANDLE THE GAME
Processor:
- AMD 64 3200+/Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz or better
Memory:
- 8 GB free hard drive space
- 512MB RAM (XP)/1GB RAM (VISTA)
Graphics:
- Shader 3.0 or better
- 256MB Nvidia Geforce 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
@scarabking117 notice the 512mb RAM requirement
they are the minimum requirements for this game, 512mb of RAM and at least a Nvidia Geforce 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT graphics card
the game most likely will not play well with the minimum requirements, so make sure you are at least somewhat above them, if you don't have a graphics card, and are using the standard graphics adapter on your motherboard THIS WILL NOT WORK
@DiMarko make sure you have the console enabled in the options menu, once you have enabled it, try changing maps using the console and see if that works
A couple of things to note first:
The files I link are completely legal. I have simply re-hosted them since it's easier to manage and the CoD WaW ISO still needs an activation key (Which you can buy for like £3)
If it goes wrong just uninstall the game and try again.
Alright, today I'm going to teach you how to get custom zombies maps on WaW since it's a huge pain in the ass to do.
Programs & Files
You will need WinRAR. Download it here (This is the Ninite installer that gets rid of tool bars and installs the correct version)
Download Daemon Tools here (This will allow you to mount the CoD WaW ISO)
Download CoD WaW here (This is the ISO file that will be mounted using Daemon Tools)
Download the patches here (This is patch 1.1 through to 1.7, it also includes every map pack in WaW since they were free on PC)
How To Install Custom Zombies Maps Waw
Installing
Run the Ninite installer for WinRAR
Run the Daemon Tools installer
Extract the CoD WaW ISO file. This may take a while.
Mount the ISO with Daemon Tools
Go to My Computer and explore the new disc that should be there
Open the folder called 'Crack' and copy the 'CoDWaW' exe to your desktop.
Go back to the disc and run 'setup.exe'
This is the part where you will need a serial key. I will not provide one as it is illegal but if you search Google for 'CoD WaW serial key' you should be able to find a website where you can buy one for super cheap.
Say yes to installing PunkBuster
Say yes to installing DirectX
Setup should be complete
Running The Game
Now that setup has been completed it may launch you straight into the game. For me, it didn't.
If it didn't, navigate to where you installed the game and find the 'CoDWaW' exe file. Run the game.
Pissed off now? It's asking you for the disc isn't it?
Copy the 'CoDWaW' exe that you pasted onto the Desktop earlier and paste it into the game folder. Replace the existing one. Make a shortcut to the 'CoDWaW' exe on your desktop.
Now run 'CoDWaW' Hey presto! It works!
You may be prompted to create a new profile. If not, then go to 'Select online profile.' One profile may already be there. If there is, delete it. You should now be prompted to create a new profile. It has to be like a Gamertag so it can't just be anything. So, for example you could be 'John4521584'
It may error a few times, so try different names. Once it has been created, go to 'Select online profile' and make sure that yours is selected. You can tell if it is selected because on the main menu it will say 'Online: [Name here]' in the top right.
Now go to 'Options and controls' then click 'Game options' and make sure that the console is enabled. Press the '`¬¦' key (It's next to the number 1 on your keyboard) to show the console. It should show the version which should be 1.0 blah blah blah. Close CoD WaW.
Installing the patches
Call Of Duty Waw Custom Zombies Maps
This part is both easy and time consuming
Extract the 'Patches' file you downloaded. This may take a while.
You should now see patches 1.1 through to 1.7
Run patch 1.1 and go through the wizard clicking 'Next' all the way through.
Do the same for the rest of the patches. If you accidentally run the same patch again do not worry because it will tell you if it has already been installed. This is also a good way to check if each patch installed successfully.
Once all the patches have been installed, run the game again.
It may ask you to insert the disc again. This is because the patches removed the vanilla 'CoDWaW' file. No problem, just simply replace the one in there with the cracked one from the ISO that should still be on your desktop.
Run the game and open the console. It should now say 1.7 and if you check solo you should have zombies there with all the maps.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed and patched CoD WaW!
Installing Custom Zombies Maps
First off, you are going to need to download some maps. I have a few that you can download by clicking here that are pretty good. If you download these maps then all you need to do is extract 'Custom Zombie Maps'
You can also get more maps by downloading them from these places: (Credit goes to /u/BrianTheWizard for the links)
CustomCoD (CoD:WW Mapping > Child Board:Released Maps)
Once you have downloaded some of the maps they will install themselves via an exe. Others do not do this so you will need to follow these steps to install them:
Press the start button and type '%appdata%' and go to the AppData folder where the profiles are. (AppData > Local > Activision > CoDWaW)
Create a new folder in the CoDWaW folder called 'mods' all in lower case
Now simply drag and drop the maps you have downloaded into this folder
The maps should now be installed. Open CoD WaW.
Make sure that the console is still enabled and then go to the section called 'Mods'
The maps you dragged and dropped should be in there. To play the map just select it and press 'Launch'
The game will restart and bring you back to the main menu. Depending on the developer of the map, you may have an option called 'Launch into solo' if you do, then great, but if not then you will have to launch it via the console.
To play a map via the console, make sure that you have launched it and it has brought you to the main menu. Next, open the console and type '/map nazi _ zombie _ [ Map Name]' (They have no spaces between the underscores, that is just Reddit making me type it that way) So, for example, If I launched the map 'Rocket Base' I would type '/map nazi _ zombie _ silo' and then press enter. To find out what the correct command is for the map just check the folder name that you dragged and dropped, or you can check the forum or place you downloaded it from. Every map will start with '/map nazi _ zombie _ ' and end with the map's name (For example, night, prototype etc)
Everything should now be complete and done. You can delete the ISO and the patches that you downloaded as you will no longer need them.
Phew, this took me about 4 hours to create so I hope it has helped. If you would like to play 4 player zombies sometime then PM me or leave a comment. If you have any issues or things to add please leave a comment. I don't want this guide to be obsolete, so if any links break or if anything is wrong then please let me know.
