The game Crusader Kings II can be described as a dynasty simulator where the player controls a medieval dynasty from 1066 to 1453. The simulation is indefinite, that the definition of “success” is entirely determined by the player.

The game uses a genetic system and education, where children will inherit the characteristics, culture, religion and skills of parents and teacher. This adds an additional strategy for marriages where one player will attempt to replicate the best people to maximize the quality of future offspring.

There are five levels of power in the game; Four of whom played: Barons (unplayable), Counts / Earls, dukes, kings and emperors.
