Touhou 12: Unidentified Fantastic Object (or UFO) is the 12th main game of the Touhou series, being released in 2009.
In Touhou 12, you're able to play as Reimu, Marisa and now with Sanae. Each character has two shot types available.

There's a funny ship flying in the sky, and it's got treasure. Who wouldn't want it? The heroines go to check. And either way, it's a win-win. They can get rich or find the ones behind it and stop them.
Touhou 12 introduces only one new mechanic, and that is the UFOs. Aside that, this is the first time you're able to play as Sanae Kochiya and the bomb counter is back. (bomb = power sucked anyway)

Anyway, on UFOs. You get an UFO if you destroy an enemy that has a sign above it's head. They'll drop small UFOs. Some change colors, some don't. About colors of UFOs, we'll cover that in a bit.
If you collect 3 UFOs of the same color in a row, you get a prize for it, summoning a large UFO that sucks all items on screen. If you let it fill to it's brim, you get an extra reward along with the original prize you get.
And now, on colors of UFOs and meanings of them as mentioned.
  • Blue UFOsmultiply the score you get from it by 8 if you fill it. Shooting it down gives you a small Blue UFO.
  • Red UFOs multiply the score by 2 (if you're lucky) and give you a life piece if you fill it. Shooting it down gives you a small Red UFO and a life piece.
  • Green UFOs give you a bomb (not a piece, but a full one) and multiplies the score by 2 if you fill it up. Shooting it down gives you a bomb piece and a small Green UFO.
  • Flashing UFOs are summoned if you get a small UFO of each color. If you fill it up, you get the score from it multiplied by 4 and a small Flashing UFO. Shooting it down gives you a small Flashing UFO and item packets can be reversed when returned (for example, Power = Point and vice-versa).

Hi guys! It's been a while that I've posted something, but I've decided to make a guide on how to download touhou games. I've been doing this for a while, I've downloaded fangames, scorefiles, and emulated pc-98 games! If you can't tell, I have a 'clears throat' wide selection of games...

Anyways, if you want me to put a tutorial on how to do any of those things, don't hesitate to ask me to make one in the comments! Without further ado, the steps!

Step 1: you're going to want to head to the Moriya Shrine and scroll down to the 'official games' tab on the left side of the screen. Then, choose which generation of games you want to download a game from (I'm using UFO as an example for this). Finally, scroll down to the game you want and press the download button.

Step 2: Once it's finished downloading, you're going to need an extracting program for this step, like winrar (I'm using winrar for this tutorial). Open the file with the program, then press extract to. Choose the destination for the file. Once your done, open the folder that contains the file we just extracted.

Step 3: now, scroll down till you see the application named 'TH12' or 'TH12e' if it has an English patch on it (The number in the application name varies on the game number in the series). Click on the file and there! You're done, you can now play touhou games!!

This process works for almost all the touhou games (except the pc-98 games). This process is 100% virus free, (and I have zero antivirus programs) unless you download your extracting program from a bad site.
